The respect (of the nationalists) for the others
When I was working for a multi-national firm, and I was to attend and also to teach courses in Chicago, there were some statements that we always had to commit to. One of them was that sentence “respect for the individuals”, since we were coming from different parts of the world.
On present times, when there is a non-hidden nationalism offensive on Spain coming from different fronts, the respect for the individuals must be translated on “respect fot the others”. The nationalisms, on their continuous effort to re-write the history (as we can see on some comments to my posts), tried to differentiate themselves by opposing their “own” culture against the other’s culture (right: the “other’s culture” is the Spanish culture”). And because there is something that they think it will make different (language, culture, whatever…), they are doing two things. One is, when they govern, to try to control the other’s culture. The other is trying to impose (nationalism = imperialism) their own language to other territories they aspire.
Facts: (1) Catalonian national-socialist government is punishing and fining the shops that have the signs in Spanish. (2) Balearic goverment, inspired by the catalonian separatists, are punishing the shops that have the signs in Spanish. (3) Basque national-comunist government has promoted a regulation for the doctors working in the Basque Autonomic Region: to know the basque language will rank better that all the merits and knowledge on the medicine. (4) Galician Autonomic national-socialist government is promoting the same things that above, on the new regulation about the schools in Galicia and the need to talk there only in Galician language.
The first action for them was to first promote their own language without respecting the Spanish. Imposing it to the population. To all the population. After that, they show themselves as victims, because their own language is not “protected” enough (Mr. Touriño, president of the national-socialist government of Galicia said). But the thing is that it is them, them, that do not respect the Spanish. They do not respect or even commit with the obligation of letting people on Catalonia, Basque Autonomic Region or Galicia to be taught on Spanish. Even more, they criticise and “demonize” civil associations that are fighting for this right on these Spanish territories, such as: Asociación por la Tolerancia, Convivencia Cívica Catalana, Plataforma Defensa Libertad Lingüística, Plataforma Galicia Bilingüe. The last exercise of respecting for the rights on Spanish is the attack from the nationalist platforms to Air Berlin just for saying the truth about the situation of the Spanish in Catalonian region:

So… What respect do you have, nationalists, separatists, for the Spanish and Spain? The same is for us to have with you and your language. Well… there is (at least) one difference, big difference. We do have for you what do you not know even how to have: culture, education, respect. Words whose meaning is unkown for you.
