Spain - Olympic champions and gold medal. Basketball
This post is not against americans, neither to upset them, but…
But I have to say that, regardless of what will happen tomorrow on the basketball match between Spain and the United States, the Spanish team will win the gold medal. And I will explain my argument later on.
First, I will say that I have no faith or hope in Spain winning to the USA. I am assuming that the USA has better team that the Spanish and that was happened on the first match is a signal to what can happen tomorrow. I am proud of the Spanish team, of what the team has done so far (World Champions and subchampions of Europe. We have a very good team, with good players and good coach. Whatever happened on this Olympic games, I would say the same thing: the results are simply a fact that depends on many things, but the behavior, the effort, the commitment, are the important things. And that things I saw and I see on the Spanish basketball national team.
Now, my argument. Since the USA players are not passing the antidoping control of the IOC, which, by the way, is mandatory for all the participants on the Olympic Games, this is an anomaly. And, in a normal situation, they will have to pass that antidoping control. Thus, my conclusion is that all the teams except the USA team are playing the “legal” or the “normal” competition. In this case, taking into account the real policies or norms for everybody (that is, without exceptions), the Spanish are the number one. They pass the antidoping control of the IOC and, therefore, they are the Olympic champions, gold medal.
So, whatever happens, Spain is the moral winner of this tournament. Gold medal for Spain, although they will have the silver medal.
