Erdogan shows his real face
According to Libertad Digital Mr. Erdogan, Turkeys’ Prime Minister, leaves the Davos and returns to Turkey. This was after confronting Israel Prime Minister Mr. Shimon Peres, on a debate in which he defended the Hamas terrorists.
Turkey, from almost the very beginning, is one of the allies of the Western Countries, belonging to the NATO. But this was time before. Middle East Forum and its articles showed from time ago Erdogan efforts to shift Turkey to a secular country, abbandoning the laity of the Turkish state, designed by Ataturk on his leading conversion to a modern state. Erdogan bet to an islamist Turkey has gave some advices in terms of, for instance, images such this (taken from Chalie Wilson Angels:

Time ago, western observers were looking to this as similar as a Christian Democratic Party, but in reality this is a clear positioning in a more radical way. This is something that has to be taking into account on the politics on this strategic are, very close to Iran, Irak, and also close to the other area of conflict: Lebanon, Syria and Israel. But, there are more factors, more elements that should be considered: the oil pipes that are coming from the Caucasus to the Mediterranean Sea are crosing countries such as Georgia, and Armenia, but also Turkey. And, not to be forgotten, the Khurdish are knocking at the US door, and stabbing Turkish shoulder.
Seems to me that Mr. Erdogan shift is related to the consideration the Bush Administration had about the Kurdish on the Irak conflict. But this can be more deep: a shift that can position Turkey as one of the leader of the “fourth way”: not a Western Country, not on the Russia side, nothing to do with the Non-Aligned Movement, not a islamic extremist country. The “fourth way” that, unfortunately, Mr. Zapatero likes a lot.
